Untitled

I just found out today that my parents don’t want me to be a musician. They even hindered my own business to continue. Sadly, I gave my best but unfortunately no one ever listened not even my family. Now, I’m trying to find reasons to continue this journey I’ve started hoping tomorrow will be better. I believe on something that no other one believed. If whoever reads this, must have felt the same way when you found out that your dreams will never come true. I’ve worked hard; I’ve done this with my bare hands for years I’ve struggled in vain. Why do they think that being a musician is low? In fact, my father’s brother was a musician himself. Maybe, he was right, maybe our kind is not respected not like those managers in office; maybe we are only entertainers just for a laugh in one moment in time and gone in a few days. They never really understand us artists. All they care about is how much money you earn not the real satisfaction of fulfilling our destiny. They call themselves Christians, and yet they even don’t know the meaning of purpose. I may live like a pauper, but my heart is good and righteous. I may live like the dogs, but we are human beings in truth and in God’s eyes. Look at them, they are so rich and wealthy, but in their hearts nothing is ever enough. What good is a man if he gains the whole world but forfeits his soul?

War Torn

We had dinner out with my parents and talked some sense out of the latest bombings. Just the other day, I was watching Discovery about the latest in high-tech arsenal the US military has to offer and talking about an advantage in warfare. As I was so intrigued about their arch enemy Bin Laden, it came upon me the comparison on what methods he’s been using against the super power. Indeed, US has ousted Saddam with little resistance, but until this very day, tens or hundreds of people have been terrorized and affected by these ‘holy’ bombings and it seemed that no one not even the most powerful nations could stop it. We couldn’t blame the government if they cannot prevent these from happening because it’s like finding a needle in a hay stack. These bombings are done by individuals that as we know are regular folks that walk down the street, or take the bus, or ride the tube, it’s just impossible to pinpoint these possible culprits. In the end of the day, we all hope that it will never happen to us or love ones, but these kind of things are just a fact of life that we have to accept. Tragic, of course, these are not random events that happen; it is meant to happen, for there is purpose even the most ghastly situation. It is war, and it always has been.

In My Heart (I See Your Face)

All alone in my room singing covers
Thinking ways how to say that I love her
Trying out all those lines without paper
Back to the days when I was a sorry loser

Refrain: And I can’t seem to find the lovin’
What if this thing has subsided
Everything is lost?

Chorus: In my heart I see your face
It’s tearing me apart in two
It’s true
It’s tearing me apart
It’s something that’s a part of you

I regret all the things that I’ve started
As you know this is not one sided
If there’s a chance a can spend more penny
Lane where I found you dressed in fashion

Refrain: Are those years I’ve searched for nothing?
Trying just a minute to come to your life
So, here’s a song or two
For you

Dog Trick

I went to my sister’s house, about 35 minutes far, and asked for her academic help about booking. The dreadful thing I find in accounting is that the end calculation must always balance out or else you have to repeat all your entries where you lost that penny. It was amazing listening to my sister as she recalls her college subject that she didn’t even have practiced, and it was ages ago just after the dinosaurs became extinct. So, that was how I managed to re-learn what teachers have taught when I earned a diploma for that. Anyway, that was it and after that we just told tales of our dog’s habits. She told me her dog can shake hands or paws, and so she showed me. She got the dog, put him on the table, placed the leash around his neck and ordered him to sit, and whalla, he sat. Then, my sister looked the dog straight in the eye and commanded to shake hands, and whalla, the dog just sat there staring with bewilderment to his master. She tried and tried again with no avail. My sister was really wondering why it did not work, after doing it several times before. Finally, she gave up and said, “Why is that when you really need to prove something, it fails.”

Musical Vibe

All day in front of the computer makes me want to go out, and so I did. I thought of buying myself a CD something new and nice. Before I do buy a CD, I must be sure it’s good or else I wouldn’t spend money for it if there’s only one song that is any good. I’ve been watching TV and always wanted to see what’s the new band or the new song everyone’s talking about. It’s quite amazing that there are channels that bring songs all day (it’s like radio on TV). Well, that’s why they call it MTV obviously. Just like them, I take music seriously. So, I saw this MTV, which I saw it several times, and listened to it and I must say, it has good melody. For me, the most important in the song is the chorus, and of course us artists differ in many ways. This new band is called “Keane.” I like it’s piano intros; it’s sticks in your mind that it becomes an earworm. I was about to buy it, but I changed my mind. Mind you, CDs nowadays are never come cheap, especially those imported. You don’t need a calculator to figure out the amount. And so, price has really an effect; that’s why I really have to make sure it’s good. However, as I was browsing the shelves, I saw something that came to me as an interesting history. I saw an album of the band called, “Mojofly.” What made it interesting is that the vocalist of that band had an affair with me! (oops, not quite. hehehe) Seriously, she’s my customer previously in my recording studio where they recorded some acoustic for a demo. And, when I first heard her sing and perform ‘in my’ studio, I know I have to backup those recordings. Maybe, these are the things that make my job satisfying. Truly is.

'el terrible'

Just the other day, a familiar customer came to my studio to record some songs. They asked me if I do have some minus one tapes to use as a material in the recording, and I said I do only have a few collection and it’s quite old; these tapes come way back in the 80’s when my sisters used to study music and had singing lessons. I could remember way back then when I was still in grade school that my parents have joined me to a singing contest in school. Unlike my sisters, I didn’t go to any voice lessons; I just had some training at home with my dad and mom. As it turned out, I won the contest, and got first prize. Since then, I became popular and started calling me names like “small but terrible.” And yes, I was very small back then that I was always in front of line.

Ordinary World

Supposed to be the space shuttle Discovery launched this morning only to be delayed because of technical reasons. They say the fuel gauge is to blame and they are working on it right away. I later found out in the news that to have a successful launch, the weather must be perfect, and as they explained it, the location of the space station should be directly or almost directly above the launch site. We all know that in space, the space station rotates on the orbit and so, perfect timing and direction must be in place. Although it is not as exciting since the first launch that happened years ago, it’s still a wonder that humans can walk out in space, in which years ago is just science fiction. It is in fact a giant leap for mankind.
Another point I am trying to drive at is that faulty fuel gauge is something we understand happens every time that we as common folk experience many times in our lifetime. A leaky faucet, a burned out fuse, or the time we have to slam the TV set for it to work. This is practically things that are not foreseeable, or can get away with. Some force, or something unexplainable, after so many tests, the thing just doesn’t work. We all like to see things go smoothly everyday, but it is not possible. As we live everyday, some thing changes, and time is something looked as change itself. We could change the past , nor can change the future. The only way to somehow soften the fall, is to be prepared and learn from our mistakes.

Change A Bit

I was turning the page of my newspaper when I came up with an article about Neil Gaiman. As you have guessed, he is the famous author of “The Sandman” comic book that I used to read in my college days, although I only had a few collection of this because as I remember, the saleslady told me that they will not ship any of the vertigo comics anymore. The reason behind this outrage is nobody ever buys them and only a handful of adults ever buys them because of its mature content. Maybe it’s too dark, too real in a sense that it captures the nature of man with a sort of twisted fantasy (which is ideal in a comic book). As I was reading the article, I found out that he has also written a children’s book, and of course you will expect people to ask why. He simply said that writing is like eating Mexican food last night and having Japanese food next day, and we ought to change around a bit.

Remote Control

Is it true that the bigger the company is, the bigger the control? I just went to a café and was planning to upload some files over the internet, and I needed a program to install to their machine for me to accomplish this. But, when I asked one of the staff, he said that they can only run limited programs for their machine and needs some authorization. Of course, I do know this will happen because I already tried it before, but still with no luck. My only recourse is to go to a smaller café that is more flexible and lenient in the way things handled. So, is it true as the saying goes? Please post me some of your stories through email or using the comment icon.

It's Sabbath

Before, Sundays for me is just like any other weekend and treat it as a day off where you can go out and enjoy, shop and waste time in the mall all day with my family after church service. There’s nothing wrong in spending quality time with my families, but I got my priorities somewhat in disarray. First of all, Sunday is considered to be Sabbath day where in the Bible is said must be a non-working day, and that’s why we don’t work on Sundays. It doesn’t matter if it is Sunday or any other day will do provided, we must set aside a day for the Lord. God created the world in 6 days and finished his work on the seventh, and blessed the seventh day and set it apart as a special day, because by that day he had completed his creation and stopped working (excerpt from Today’s English Version Bible). Therefore, we must dedicate Sunday to God. Moreover, this observance is mandated by law in the ten commandments and we must follow it or face punishment as to any given law, man made or by God. If you will let me choose, I’ll rather obey God. (see Exodus 20:8 for more information about the Sabbath)

Kneeling Bombs

It was already dark outside and I was on front of my computer screen arranging some music clips when my mom knocked on my door. I got off and opened the door ajar, and mom told me that something terrible happened in London. So, I hurriedly opened my TV and saw police, ambulances and people wearing in neon vests while others walking away from where the terrible blasts came from. “Terrorism,” that was what Prime minister Tony Blair said on the news. Some experts said that it was the handy work of the infamous Al Qaeda network because the blasts that happened was coordinated. This event happened just after the day when London has won for the Olympic bid in 2012, and this is also the time when Tony Blair was in Scotland where the G8 meeting is taking place. This was seen as evil and deplorable, but to what we see as our enemy sees it, it was casualties of war because for them it is war, and bullets or bombs don’t kneel to anyone.

Sky's the Limit

Monday, July 04, 2005

Today is the 4th of July and Americans are enjoying the firework shows being held in different cities. There is also the celestial fireworks that has happened today where an unmanned probe nose dived to the center of a comet to take samples and pictures and give clues on the creation of the world. If we unlearn the things we read and what we heard, can we guess how the world began? As science puts it, the Earth is created with a huge big bang, and gasses and dust swirled until it formed circles and later become the planet as we know it. The problem with this theory is that, where did those gasses come from? We all came to being because we originated from “something.” And where did that something come from? If we searched for answers using scientific methodology, we would come up of the chicken and egg dilemma. Science is like science fiction where it has limitations because man is limited in many sort of ways. Just recently, I found out that chip makers (computer processors) has already hit a bump that it cannot make the chips go any faster. They said that heat has become the limiting factor and would never go any faster than what are used today (so, they made two chips in one and called it, dual core). Maybe, you would think that “yeah, sure we have limitations but we still can find some ways to solve it.” That is true. But, I do believe that no matter we go far in science, we can never live forever.
