Sky's the Limit

Monday, July 04, 2005

Today is the 4th of July and Americans are enjoying the firework shows being held in different cities. There is also the celestial fireworks that has happened today where an unmanned probe nose dived to the center of a comet to take samples and pictures and give clues on the creation of the world. If we unlearn the things we read and what we heard, can we guess how the world began? As science puts it, the Earth is created with a huge big bang, and gasses and dust swirled until it formed circles and later become the planet as we know it. The problem with this theory is that, where did those gasses come from? We all came to being because we originated from “something.” And where did that something come from? If we searched for answers using scientific methodology, we would come up of the chicken and egg dilemma. Science is like science fiction where it has limitations because man is limited in many sort of ways. Just recently, I found out that chip makers (computer processors) has already hit a bump that it cannot make the chips go any faster. They said that heat has become the limiting factor and would never go any faster than what are used today (so, they made two chips in one and called it, dual core). Maybe, you would think that “yeah, sure we have limitations but we still can find some ways to solve it.” That is true. But, I do believe that no matter we go far in science, we can never live forever.
