The Parable of the Wedding Feast as Explained by the Bible

Matthew 22:1-14
Jesus again used parables in talking to the people. The Kingdom of heaven is like this. Once there was a king who prepared a wedding feast for his son. He sent his servants to tell the invited guests to come to the feast, but they did not want to come. So he sent other servants with this message for the guests: ‘My feast is ready now; my steers and prize calves have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding feast!’ But the invited guests paid no attention and went about their business: one went to his farm, another to his store, while others grabbed the servants, beat them, and killed them. The king was very angry; so he sent his soldiers, who killed those murderers and burned down the city. Then he called his servants and said to them, ‘My wedding feast is ready, but the people I invited do not deserve it. Now go to the main streets and invite to the feast as many people you can find.’ So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, good and bad alike; and the wedding hall was filled with people.
“The king went in to look at the guests and saw a man who was not wearing wedding clothes. ‘Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ the king asked him. But the man said nothing. Then the king told the servants, ‘Tie him up hand and foot, and throw him outside in the dark. There he will cry and gnash his teeth.’”
And Jesus concluded, “Many are invited, but few are chosen.”

Who is the king?
Answer: The Almighty God in Heaven.
Revelations 19:6 – Then I heard what sounded like a crowd, like the sound of a roaring waterfall, like loud peals of thunder. I head them say, “Praise God! For the Lord, our Almighty God, is King!

Who is the Son?
Answer: Jesus Christ.
John 1:29-34 – The next day John saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “There is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! This is the one I was talking about when I said, ‘A man is coming after me, but he is greater than I am, because he existed before I was born.’ I did not know who he would be, but I came baptizing with water in order to make him known to the people of Israel.” And John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down like a dove from heaven and stay on him. I still did not know that he was the one, but God, who sent me to baptize with water, had said to me, ‘You will see the Spirit come down and stay on a man; he is the one who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ I have seen it,” said John, “and I tell you that he is the Son of God.”

Who are the servants?
Answer: Prophets, Teachers, Wise men, Messengers, Angels and other believers.
Matthew 23:34 – And so I tell you that I will send you prophets and wise men and teachers; you will kill some of them, crucify others, and whip others in the synagogues and chase them from town to town.
Romans 10:15 – And how can the message be proclaimed if the messengers are not sent out? As the scripture says, “How wonderful is the coming of the messengers who bring good news!”
Revelations 19:9 – Then the angel said to me, “Write this: Happy are those who have been invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb.” And the angel added, “These are the true words of God.” I fell down at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, “Don’t do it! I am a servant together with you and with other believers, all those who hold the truth that Jesus revealed. Worship God!”

Who are those invited guests?
Answer: The rest of the Israelites or Jews
The People who murdered the prophets
Matthew 23:29 - “How terrible for you, teachers of the Law of Pharisees! You hypocrites! You make fine tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of those who lived good lives; and you claim that if you lived during the time of your ancestors, you would not have done what they did and killed the prophets. So you actually admit that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets! ...And so I tell you that I will send you prophets and wise men and teachers; you will kill some of them, crucify others, and whip others in the synagogues and chase them from town to town.
Romans 11:2 – God has not rejected his people, whom he chose from the beginning.
Romans 11:7 – What then? The people of Israel did not find what they are looking for. It was only the small group that God chose who found it; the rest grew deaf to God’s call.

Who are those people invited as the servants could find?
Answer: Everyone, Jews and Gentiles alike.
Romans 10:15-18 – And how can the message be proclaimed if the messengers are not sent out? As the scripture says, “How wonderful is the coming of the messengers who bring the good news!” But not all have accepted the Good News. Isaiah himself said, “Lord, who believed our message?” So then, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message comes through preaching Christ. But I ask: Is it true that they did not hear the message? Of course they did- for as the scripture says: “The sound of their voice went out to all the world; their words reached the ends of the earth.”
Matthew 5:45 – so that you may become the children of the Father in heaven. For he makes his sun to shine on bad and good people alike, and gives rain to those who do good and to those who do evil.

What are the wedding clothes?
Answer: Good deeds
Revelations Then there came from the throne the sound of the voice saying, “Praise our God, all his servants and all people, both great and small, who have reverence for him!” Then I heard what sounded like a crowd, like the sound of roaring waterfall, like loud peals of thunder: I heard them say, “Praise God! For the Lord, our Almighty God, is King! Let us rejoice and be glad; let us praise his greatness! For the time has come for the wedding of the Lamb, and his bride has prepared herself for it. She has been given clean shining linen to wear.” (The linen is the good deeds of God’s people.)

What is the Invitation?
Answer: The message, the Good News
Romans 10:16 – But not all have accepted the Good News.
