Give Peace A Chance

I just finished a new song today and it's called “Will Ever Be.” Thinking if I would post it soon, and I'm running out of web space on my website, well maybe in You Tube, I guess. The song sounds like, yes John's; even though the man's dead for years, he lives in the ears of everyone who hears the mantra, “War Is Over” or “Give Me Some Truth.” I never really knew who he was actually, I only know him by his musical works, and believe me, he inspires me and others to make music (and even sound like him). Anyway, just the other day I saw a video clip of Lennon's upcoming movie called “US vs. John Lennon.” This movie is sure to ressurrect him again and give peace a chance. Now that the Iraq war is raging on, I think it will be a good suggestion for all people to just make love not war.

The Evil That Destroys Within Us

Even if you ask music listeners, those people who buy music, they would never want their MP3s in chains; nobody would ever want it. DRM (Digital Rights Management) only caters to those who make music who have pimped-out cars and apartments with pools, and those labels who rake all the dough. The reason for this DRM is to curb the problem of piracy, so it will restrict anyone from copying, redistributing and selling it. Yes, I think that is a legitimate reason for using the technology, for I for one also hate piracy. I buy original CDs from the store, put it on my PC and rip it, and I can do whatever I want like putting it to my MP3 player. Although for us living in our country, CDs does not come cheap. If you would compare pirated copies to original ones, it is 60 to 450 respectively (whew!) And, also as an artist, I do not want anybody stealing my music for their greed. For me, nobody can solve this (DRMs can be cracked anyway!) DRMs are making music “unattractive” even for an avid listener. I would rather go to a store and buy CDs or buy cassette tapes (yes, we still have those) or never buy at all.

For me, what works though is not DRMs or encrypted CDs, it is education and right values I learned in years. If we only teach young people to respect the works of others, others will also respect them for it. It is learning that piracy is wrong and will only benefit the evil and the evil that destroys within us.
